Advance Fire Systems, Inc was established in Durango, CO in 2006. We are a licensed Fire Suppression Contractor (Underground, Suppression, Backflow) in Colorado and New Mexico. We work on all size projects from small tenant improvement and residential homes to large commercial and industrial facilities.

We are a full service company offering system design, installation, inspection, service and repair. We staff licensed sprinkler pipe fitters, inspectors, and certified back flow testers. We offer 24/7 services in case of emergency. We have successfully completed numerous projects in the area with contract values exceeding $1,000,000.

Meet Phillip Boyle

Owner Phillip Boyle has been a licensed Fire Suppression Contractor and system designer for over 40 years. He owned Cal-West Fire Protection in Sacramento, California for more than 33 years before moving to Durango and starting Advance Fire Systems Inc. Phil’s previous management and design experience with high-rise projects, mulit-acre distribution/manufacturing facilities, hospitals, shopping malls, hotels, and elderly care facilities – just to mention a few – have helped Advance Fire and it’s employees grow. Cal-West was one of California’s largest Fire Sprinkler companies under his ownership.

Meet John Lewis

John Lewis joined Advance Fire Systems as a partner in June 2024. He was brought on to drive business growth with a strong emphasis on enhancing productivity and quality in field operations.

Prior to this role, John served as Senior Director for Field Services at TBM, a consulting firm, where he worked closely with medium to large construction and utility companies. He specialized in improving productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction through the application of Six Sigma and Lean methodologies. Earlier in his career, John was the owner and operator of Lewis Aerospace, a Tier 1 supplier of both new and repaired parts to leading companies such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Honeywell.

John has also held key leadership roles in academia, including serving on the Board of Governors for the Oklahoma State University Foundation and as a Board Member for the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture at Oklahoma State University. OSU is home to the nation’s first ABET-accredited Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology Program.

He holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Oklahoma State University.
